Feb. 18, 1998
SEATTLE--The Washington men's soccer team added another player to its 1998 roster when Bryn Ritchie of Medford, Ore., signed a national letter of intent. Coach Dean Wurzberger now has nine new athletes for next season.
Ritchie earned first-team all-state and conference MVP honors as a senior at South Medford High School, helping his team win the state championship with a 15-1-1 record and finish 14th in the nation. His junior season he was first-team all-conference, while South Medford advanced to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs for the second straight season.
Ritchie was an honorable mention all-conference pick his freshman year and was named to its second team as a sophomore. He played center midfield his first three seasons and was a forward as a senior, scoring 24 goals and dishing out 18 assists.
A member of the National Honor Society, Ritchie ranks first in his class of 370.
