Huskies Finish Fourth at NCAA Gym Regional

Corvallis, OR - The Washington womens gymnastics team placed fourth at the NCAA Region I Gymnastics championships in Corvallis with a score of 193.425. UCLA, ranked 15th, pulled a small upset by defeating third-ranked Utah for the team title. The Bruins scored 197.025 to the Utes 196.425. Both teams advanced to the 12-team NCAA Championships April 22-24 in Salt Lake City.
The Huskies were led by sophomore Lanna Apisukh, who scored 39.025 in the all-around competition. Apisukh recorded the Huskies top score in all four events. Washingtons finish marked the sixth straight year the Huskies have recorded a top-four finish at the NCAA regionals. UCLAs Heidi Moneymaker won the all-around competition with a score of 39.525.
In addition to UCLA and Utah, this years NCAA Championship field will include Georgia, Florida, Michigan, Nebraska, Stanford, LSU, Penn State, Arizona State, Alabama and West Virginia.
Washington assistant coach Danna Durante was named the Region I assistant coach of the year.
