Scutt Leads Washington at Northwest Classic

Corvallis, OR - Gordy Scutt shot a 4-under 140 in the first two rounds of the Northwest Classic, leading Washington's men's golf team to a fourth place tie with one round remaining. Scutt, a freshman from Victoria, B.C., carded two rounds of 70 on the par-72 Trysting Tree Golf Course and is tied for sixth headed into Tuesday's final round.
Washington shot 5-under as a team for the first two rounds, carding a season-best 285 in the second round. Senior Rob Rashell is in 10th place, 2-under par after shooting 69 in the afternoon round. Scott Kral is Washington's next best finisher, tied for 23rd at even-par for the tournament.
UCLA's B.J. Schlagenhauf holds the individual lead at 8-under par, one stroke better than Robby Stephenson of Colorado State.
San Diego State leads the 18-team competition at 11-under par, UCLA is second at 9-under, followed by Oregon at -7.
The tournament concludes with the final round Tuesday morning.
