Scott Kral moves into a third-place tie

WAIKOLOA, HI - WAIKOLOA, HI -- The University of Washington men's golf team fired a 4-over-par 312 in Friday's second round to move up to second place overall in the Taylor Made Intercollegiate at Walikoloa's par-72 King's Golf Course. The Huskies two-round total of 596 trails only Georgia Tech, who currently leads the 54-hole tournament with a score of 580.
Junior Scott Kral, coming off surgery in December, leapt into a tie for third individually with a 2-over-par 74. Kral, who shot an even-par 70 in Thursday's first round, is tied with Georgia Tech's Bryce Molder (65-79) at 144, five strokes behind first-round leader Carlton Forrester (64-75) of Georgia Tech, who leads the tourney at 139. Nicholas Loar of Southern Methodist is in second with a total of 143.
Right behind Kral in a tie for fifth is Husky all-America candidate Rob Rashell, whose 5-over-par 77 on Friday brought his two-round total to 145, tying him with 1998 U.S. Amateur Champion Matt Kuchar of Georgia Tech. UW's Robb Bergeson carded a 6-over-par 78, leaving him in a tie for 21st. Husky freshman Will McCurdy is tied for 63rd.
The No. 19 Huskies will wrap up the tournament on Saturday, with the final round being played on Waikoloa's King's Golf Course.
