SEATTLE--Both UW men’s and women’s tennis teams, as well as several individuals, are represented in the fall rankings of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and the Northwest Region. The men’s team enters at No. 40 in the nation and seventh in the region, while the women are ranked 61st and fourth, respectively.
Individually, freshman Robert Kendrick of Fresno, Calif., was the highest listed Husky nationally at 23rd and eighth in the region. He and junior Eric Drew teamed to fill the No. 19 spot in the nation in doubles and are ranked seventh regionally. Drew is 21st in the Northwest.
On the women’s side, sophomore Zuzana Stunova is ranked No. 27 in the nation and is tied for eighth in the region. Freshman Kristina Kraszewski of Torrance, Calif., appears at No. 34 nationally and sixth in the Northwest. Others regionally ranked were sophomore Jennifer Svanfeldt (20th), sophomore Peggy Wu (25th) and the doubles team of Kraszewski/Wu (10th).
The women will host the Pac-10 Indoor Tennis Tournament Jan. 16-19 in the Nordstrom Tennis Center. Teams scheduled to compete are Arizona, Arizona State, California, Southern Cal, UCLA, Oregon and Washington State.
