Husky Softball Allows Only Two Total Runs In 5-0 Weekend In California
February 15, 2026 | Softball
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The No. 24 Husky softball team (7-3, 0-0 Big Ten) completed the undefeated weekend with two victories on Sunday, going 5-0 in the Golden State.
The Dawgs played the last two games of the weekend in the Silicon Valley Classic, earning a 6-1 win over San Jose State and a 13-0 victory over Santa Clara in six innings.
Game 1 – Washington vs. San Jose State
The bulk of the scoring came early for the Huskies, who registered three runs in the second inning.
Jade Bubke was the first run to score in the second. Later in the inning, Kaycie Burdick singled to right field (to her sister Sophia Burdick, who plays for San Jose State), helping Tia Durst and Sophi Mazzola score.
Giselle Alvarez then singled to second with the bases loaded, bringing in Marley Teasley to score and bring the Husky lead to 4-0.
San Jose State brought in a run in the bottom of the fourth, but it would be the only one given up by Washington, who went on to card two more in game one.
Zuri Patterson singled to left field to bring in Gabi Toney.
Toney then recorded an inside the park home run to seal the deal in the bottom of the sixth.
Sophia Ramuno got the win for Washington, adding six strikeouts and giving up just three Spartan hits.
Game 2 – Washington vs. Santa Clara
It was all Husky offense in game two of the day, as the Dawgs poured in 11 runs in the final game of the weekend.
Every batter who entered the game scored for Washington.
Morgan Reimer secured the win for the Huskies, giving up just two hits in six innings.
The game went scoreless in the first two innings for both teams until Ava Carroll singled to right field to bring in Marley Teasley for the first run of the game.
Ally Hetzel recorded her second career home run with a two RBI home run that scored Addie Craig.
In the next inning, Jade Bubke reached on a fielding error and Carroll scored the fourth UW run.
Toney then hit her third home run of the season and fourth of her career, notching a dinger to right field to score Bubke.
Already with a 6-0 lead entering the sixth inning, Washington exploded offensively, pouring in seven runs to end the game in six.
The birthday girl Riley Peschek homered to left center, her first home run of the season that brought in Jing Gardner.
Alvarez followed shortly after with a three-RBI blast of her own that scored DeBoer and Burdick.
Patterson slammed her first career home run to center field, bringing in Mila Reddy to balloon the Husky advantage to 13-0.
Washington has a quick turnaround back to California next week, gearing up for an appearance in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
In Palm Springs, the Dawgs will face South Carolina, Saint Mary's, Auburn, BYU, Oklahoma and LMU. All six Husky games will be available to stream on FloCollege.
