
DeBoer One Of Ten Finalists For Freshman Of The Year

SEATTLE β Washington softball's Alexis DeBoer has been a Top 10 finalists for NFCA Freshman of the Year, the organization announced today.

The three finalists will be released on May 22 with the winner will be revealed on May 27 prior to the start of the Women's College World Series.

DeBoer is one of three Big Ten freshman named to the Top 10, joining UCLA's Addisen Fisher and Oregon's Rylee McCoy. She is the fourth Husky to be named a Top 10 finalist alongside Gabbie Plain (2018), Sis Bates (2017) and Taylor Van Zee (2015).

On the season, she is batting .369 with nine doubles, a triple, 20 home runs, 26 walks and 54 RBI. DeBoer's 20 home runs are 11th in the nation and third in the conference behind UCLA's Megan Grant (23) and Ohio State's Jasmyn Burns (22).

Last week at Penn State, DeBoer hit her 20th home run of the season becoming just the second Husky freshman to accomplish that feat. She is also the fifthΒ Big Ten freshman to reach that number and the first since Taryn Kern (Indiana) in 2023.

DeBoer was honored as D1Softball National Player of the Week on March 11. She held a .538 average with seven hits, five home runs, eight RBI, six runs scored and five walks with a 1.769 slugging percentage as the Huskies had an undefeated weekend at the Black and Orange Classic. She also garnered Big Ten Player of the Week honors on March 3 and a Big Ten Freshman of the Week nod on May 5.

The Huskies await the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, May 11. The show will air at 4 p.m. PT on ESPN2.
