HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. – The Washington women's golf team opened play Friday at the Big Ten Women's Golf Championships, carding a 26-over, scoring 314 in the first round at Bulle Rock Golf Club. The Huskies sit tied for 17th place heading into Saturday's second round.
A DQ for Vivian Lu hurt the Dawgs first round, caused by an incorrectly signed scorecard. Carmen Lim picked up Lu's round leading the Husky lineup, firing a two-over 74 to place tied for 28th. Lim recorded two birdies in the front nine to finish the opening round.
Wendy Tang and Amber Li followed, each posting seven-over to finish the day, both tied for 75th. Athena Ni rounded out the scoring lineup with an 82 and sits tied for 83rd heading into round two.
Washington will return to the course Saturday morning at 5:30 a.m. partnered with Minnesota and Nebraska for round two of the three-day championship event at Bulle Rock GC.
