CARY, N.C. -- Reece Carter won her debut match as a Dawg today, and it was a ranked win at that. Carter, the transfer from Arizona where she was the No. 1 singles player for the Wildcats, advanced through to the second round of qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships today in Cary, North Carolina.
Carter had an emphatic 6-2, 6-2 win today over Jeanette Mireles of Texas A&M, who is ranked 88th nationally. She'll need one more win to reach the main draw, playing against Ahton Bowers of Texas at 9 a.m. PT on Tuesday.
Carter herself is ranked 60th nationally in singles.
