
Huskies Overpower Ducks 4-2 On The Road

EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 28 UW women's tennis team picked up a 4-2 dual win over the No. 66 Oregon Ducks Friday afternoon at the Student Tennis Center in Eugene, Oregon.
One and two doubles each locked in 6-2 victories to clinch the first point of the afternoon for the Huskies. Melissa Sakar and Catherine Gagnon's match on 3 was stranded as the pair was down 3-4.
In singles play, Dariya Detkovskaya was overpowered on court 6 to drop to 6-2 on 6 and 7-4 overall in singles, as she lost 6-3, 6-0.
Erika Matsuda earned her seventh win on the Huskies' top court as she dominated in a 6-0, 6-2 match.
Sarah-Maude Fortin returned to the singles lineup for the first time since March 3 but dropped her match on court 5, 6-3, 6-1 to Oregon's Karin Young.
Astrid Olsen and Sakar picked up back-to-back victories for Washington to clinch the match, 4-2. Olsen improves to 13-4 in singles action and Sakar earned her 16th win to improve to 16-3. No. 96 Alexia Jacobs' match on 2 was abandoned with the freshman up 7-5, 3-0.
The Huskies will head down to the desert to face the Arizona Wildcats on Friday, April 5 and Arizona State on April 6.
