
Huskies Pick Up Win No. 20; Secure Series At Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 7 Washington scored 11 unanswered runs in the 11-3 comeback run-rule win over No. 22 Arizona on Saturday at Hillenbrand Stadium. The Huskies improve to 20-3 and 4-1 in Pac-12 action.
Lindsay Lopez got the start, tossing her second straight complete game. She struck out five in the outing and did not allow a walk. Lopez moves to 6-1 on the season.
Arizona jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first inning.
The Huskies answered right back in the second. Kinsey Fiedler hit a one-out single and advanced to second on a groundout. She was driven in on a single by Brooke Nelson to cut into the Wildcat lead. Sydney Stewart followed with her third home run of the season to tie the game at three.
Olivia Johnson sent her second homer out to left to give the Huskies their first lead, and they never looked back.
In the fifth, Avery Hobson led off with a double and stole third a couple batters later. Back-to-back walks to O. Johnson and Nelson loaded the bases for Stewart who knocked a two-run single to extend the lead to four.
With two outs in the sixth, an Alana Johnson single and a pair of walks to Fiedler and O. Johnson loaded the bases. Nelson sent her second career grand slam out to left to put the game into run-rule territory at 11-3.
Lopez and the Husky defense shut down the Wildcats with 16 straight retired after giving up the three runs in the first.
Stewart went 4-for-4 on the day with four RBI and three extra base hits (two doubles and a home run). Nelson knocked in a team-high five RBI and went 3-for-3. Hobson and Fiedler also recorded multi-hit games.
Washington and Arizona square off tomorrow afternoon for the series finale. First pitch is set for noon and airing on Pac-12 Network.
