
Huskies Run-Rule Nebraska To Open Season

PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – No. 7 Washington opened the 2024 season with a Top 25 victory over No. 17 Nebraska 8-0 (five innings) on day one of the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge on Thursday night.
Ruby Meylan got the start in the circle, tossing a complete game with three strikeouts. Meylan and the Huskies' defense allowed only four runners on.
Jadyn Glab went 2-for-2 with four RBI in her collegiate debut. Alana Johnson added three RBI on a pair of hits to begin her sophomore campaign.
Washington got things going in the second. Glab drove in the first run of the contest on an infield single to bring in Johnson.
The Huskies added five runs in the third highlighted by Glab's first career home run, a three-run shot out to center field. A wild pitch and single from Johnson plated the other pair of runs.
In the fourth, Johnson put the run-rule into effect with a two-run double to score Kinsey Fiedler and Sydney Stewart.
In addition to Glab, Jillian Celis (starting at second) and Jing Gardner (pinch runner) made their Husky debuts.
Up next, the Huskies play Utah Valley (4 p.m. PT) and No. 1 Oklahoma (6:30 p.m. PT) on Friday. The games will be streamed on FloSoftball, this is a subscription service.
