Beach Dawgs Take Down Central Arkansas and Houston Christian

HOUSTON— The University of Washington Beach Volleyball team bounced back from a tough first day in the Third Coast College Classic by winning two matches on Saturday.
The Beach Dawgs played strong in the morning against Houston Christian University, going on to sweep HCU 5-0, winning every match in two sets. Kendall Mather and Brooke Balue brought home the first win by finishing their last set 21-8. Natalie Martin and Audra Wilmes shut down a late surge by the HCU, winning 21-19. Maggy Rabstich and Piper Monk-Heidrich continued their winning from yesterday and clinched the victory by taking down Houston Christian 21-4 in the final set.
Fueled by that morning's performance, the Huskies produced another 5-0 sweep in the afternoon against Central Arkansas. Mather, once again, brought home the first win, this time partnered with Kierstyn Barton. Martin and Wilmes then won two straight sets to seal the second win of the day. Josie Ulrich and Scarlett Dahl clinched the match, winning 21-15. Rabstich and Piper Monk-Heidrich remain undefeated on the season as the duo blew out their opponents 21-11, 21-4.
The Huskies head to Los Angeles next weekend to compete in the "Battle 4 LA" tournament on March 1st and 2nd against LMU, GCU, UCLA, and Long Beach State.
