
Huskies Take Down Pilots 6-1 Friday Night

SEATTLE – The Huskies welcomed PNW rival Portland Friday night and took away a 6-1 victory to improve on 8-3 on the season.
Doubles pair Sarah-Maude Fortin and Erika Matsuda finished first with a commanding 6-1 victory, leaving it to courts 1 and 3. The duo improved to 7-3 in doubles this spring.
Catherine Gagnon and Melissa Sakar earned their second straight doubles win in as many matches, clinching the doubles point for the Huskies 6-3, stranding No. 1 doubles at 5 all.
The singles Dawgs rolled to victories on five courts – led by Sakar and Gagnon who each gave up just one game in their matches.
Matsuda on court 1 clinched the victory for the Huskies, only giving up three games with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
Fortin and Olsen grinded out wins to give the Huskies six wins over Portland before Alexia Jacobs ultimately fell in a tiebreak, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 on court 2.
Washington will face No. 75 San Diego State at the NTC on Sunday at noon.
