December 08, 2024 | Football
SEATTLE – Senior linebacker Alphonzo Tuputala won the 117th annual Guy Flaherty Award, the Washington football program's oldest and most prestigious team honor, at the teams' annual postseason awards banquet, held Sunday at Husky Stadium.
The Flaherty Award, given to the UW's most inspirational player and voted on by the players was first awarded in 1908. Tuputala is a sixth-year senior from Federal Way, Wash., who started all 12 games, leading the team in sacks, while finishing second in tackles. He was also honored with the new "Be a P.R.O." Award, voted on by the UW coaches.
Also Sunday, running back Jonah Coleman (Stockton, Calif.), linebacker Carson Bruener (Woodinville, Wash.), and linebacker Drew Fowler (Bellevue, Wash.) were named the team's most valuable offense, defensive and special teams players, respectively.
