November 20, 2024 | General, Student-Athlete Academic Services
SEATTLE β Raising the bar in the classroom once again, University of Washington student-athletes achieved a Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of 94 in the latest NCAA report released today. The current GSR reflects the success of Husky student-athletes entering between 2014-17.
Β
Washington Athletics surpassed its previous best score of 92 set in 2021. This is the sixth year in a row that UW student-athletes have achieved a GSR above 90.
Β
"Our department is committed to a culture of excellence, and academics play an important role in the daily lives of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff," said Director of Athletics Pat Chun. "Earning a degree from the University of Washington is a significant and proud achievement, and we are fortunate to have student-athletes committed to their education. The GSR is just one measure of success and is a testament to the hard work of every member of ICA."
Β
Washington tied for No. 4 in the Big Ten with its 94 score this year.
Β
Nine UW teams led the way with perfect 100 scores: Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Gymnastics, Men's Soccer, Softball, Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis, and Volleyball.
Β
Men's Basketball was one of only three Big Ten programs to score 100 (Northwestern, Michigan), and Men's Soccer was one of only two Big Ten programs with the 100 score (Michigan).
A complete and searchable Graduation Rates Report is available online, atΒ NCAA.org.
Β
The GSR is the percentage of student-athletes earning a degree within six years, and was developed by the NCAA to account for transfer student-athletes and mid-year enrollees, and does not include those who leave an institution while they were academically eligible to compete.
