
Moll Places Ninth In World Championships Final

BUDAPEST, Hungary -- Incoming Husky freshman Hana Moll cemented her spot amongst the best women's vaulters in the world as she finished ninth in the finals of the World Athletics Championships on Wednesday in Hungary. Moll and her twin sister Amanda will be joining the Huskies this fall and should see their first NCAA competition in the 2024 indoor season.
Also on Wednesday, former Husky Amy-Eloise Neale finished 23rd overall in the 5,000-meter prelims, running a season-best time of 15:13.66 as the top finisher for Great Britain.
Moll, the Olympia, Wash. native, had advanced to the final by setting a new personal-best and American U20 and High School Record clearing 15-3 in Monday's qualifying competition. Only one woman has ever vaulted higher in the U20 age range, Finland's Wilma Murto, who won the Bronze medal on Wednesday, and her higher U20 clearances were all done indoors.
In the final, Moll had first-attempt makes at 14-1 3/4 and then 14-9, before going out trying to match the 15-3 bar she made in qualifying.
