July 09, 2023 | Track & Field
EUGENE, Ore. – A trio of Husky pole vaulters past, present, and future brought UW's action at the USATF Outdoor Championships to a thrilling conclusion today at Hayward Field. Incoming freshman Hana Moll broke the U.S. National High School Record with a third-place finish today, and is expected to earn a spot on Team USA for the World Championships.
UW vaulters had two of the top-six spots, as rising senior Nastassja Campbell, the NCAA runner-up a month ago, finished in sixth-place today with a clearance of 14-9 ½. Only four women cleared a higher bar, one of which was Moll, the Olympia, Wash. native and Capital High School product, who made 15-1 ½ on a first attempt to wind up with the bronze.
Former Husky Olivia Gruver tied for 11th today as she had a best make of 14-3 ½.
