SEATTLE – Following a 2022 season that saw the Washington men's soccer team ranked No. 1 for six consecutive weeks and earned their fourth Pac-12 Championship, the Huskies have announced their 2023 schedule.
The 18-match slate features seven teams that made the 2022 NCAA Tournament and nine contests at Husky Soccer Stadium. Washington was 10-2-1 on its home pitch a season ago.
Prior to the start of the regular season, the Huskies will host a pair of exhibition matches against Portland (Aug. 14) and Gonzaga (Aug. 19).
The season kicks off on Thursday, Aug. 24 at home against South Florida. Last season, the Bulls advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and finished with a record of 9-7-4. The last time the two teams met last year, head coach Jamie Clark picked up his 150th victory as a Husky.
Washington hits the road for the first time to face a pair of Big Ten opponents. The Huskies open the road swing with Indiana on Sept. 1. The Hoosiers finished the 2022 season with a 14-4-7 overall record and advanced to the College Cup finals. The Huskies conclude the road trip against Ohio State on Sept. 3. The Buckeyes posted a 11-3-6 record last season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament second round.
Cal State Fullerton comes to Husky Soccer Stadium for the 15th all-time meeting between the programs on Sunday, Sept. 10.
Pac-12 action opens on the road in the Bay Area with Stanford (Sept. 14) and California (Sept. 17). In program history, the Huskies hold the all-time record at 77-42-17 (.629) over the Bay Area schools.
The annual WAC/101 Club Cup against Seattle U is set for Sept. 21 at Championship Field.
Washington's longest home stretch of the season starts with a non-conference matchup with Portland on Sept. 24. The Pilots advanced the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament a year ago with a record of 15-3-3. The Huskies return to Pac-12 play versus Oregon State (Sept. 30), San Diego State (Oct. 5) and UCLA (Oct. 8).
On Oct. 14, the Huskies hit the road for their final non-conference match of the season at Gonzaga. Washington is 34-1-1 all-time against the Bulldogs.
