Day Two Of Queens Cup Ends In A Split
March 11, 2023 | Beach Volleyball
HONOLULU, Hawaii – For day two of the Queen's Cup Tournament the Washington Husky Beach Volleyball squad faced Nebraska and No. 9 Hawaii. After coming off a loss to No. 11 Cal Berkley, Washington was eager to get back out on the sand. The Dawgs set the tone, dominating their game against Nebraska.
Washington is still looking to grab a top-10 win and fought hard for one today against No. 9 Hawaii. Unfortunately, the Huskies came up short in a 2-3 loss. Assistant coach Steve McFadden commented on how the elements in Hawaii proved to be challenging for the Huskies.
"The team fought hard today and stuck together in a tough environment," he said, "The sand and heat here are dramatically different from our usual training environments, and we're hanging with some of the top teams in the country."
The Huskies have been shuffling the lineup the past few games trying to find their groove. McFadden commented, "We're going through some of the trials that make a team stronger, and we're just looking for that breakthrough."
After two tough tournament weekends in a row, the Huskies will have a break before heading down to LSU for the Tiger Beach Challenge. "The bye week next week comes at a great time for us to regroup and get a little rest," he said, "But we've got a lot of great energy on the team right now, so we're excited to move forward."
