
No. 8 Huskies Shutout San Diego State

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – No. 8 Washington closed out its trip to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a 5-0 win over San Diego State on Saturday night to improve to 13-3 overall.
Madison Huskey got things going for the Dawgs in the first inning with a one out solo home run to left field, her sixth of the year.
With bases loaded and one out in the fourth, Avery Hobson sent a single through the left side to drive in a run. Baylee Klingler smashed her fifth double to clear the bases to take a 5-0 lead.
Ruby Meylan tossed her fifth complete game and fourth shutout to improve her record to 6-0. Meylan recorded 11 strikeouts over the seven innings, her fourth 10+ strikeout performance of the season.
Scoring:
1st: Huskey homered to left field, RBI.
4th: Hobson singled through the left side, RBI; Allchin advanced to second; O. Johnson advanced to third; Lynch scored.
4th: Klingler doubled to left center, 3 RBI; Hobson scored; Allchin scored, unearned; O. Johnson scored.
Up next, the Huskies head to Phoenix for the Grand Canyon Classic, March 3-5. Over the three days, Washington will face Michigan State, Boise State, New Mexico, Charlotte and Grand Canyon.
