Johnson Named Walter Camp Offensive Player Of The Week
November 07, 2023 | Football
Washington running back Dillon Johnson has been named the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced today.
The junior from Greenville, Miss. rushed for 256 yards on 26 carries and four touchdowns in the Huskies win over USC on Saturday. The rushing yards is the fifth-most ever by a Husky and the most since 2010 and four rushing touchdowns are tied for the fourth-most in a single-game. Johnson's 52-yard touchdown run in the second quarter was the longest rushing play of the season for the Huskies.
Johnson is the seventh Washington player to earn Walter Camp National FBS Player of the Week honors since 2004. He joins fellow Huskies Michael Penix Jr. and Mishael Powell to earn the honor this season.
Earlier today, Johnson was also named the Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week.
This is the 20th year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defensive player as its national Football Bowl Subdivision player of the week during the regular season. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Foundation. It is the nation's longest running Player of Week award.
