Odunze, Penix Jr. Named Major Award Finalists

Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze and quarterback Michael Penix Jr. were each named finalists for national awards, the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA)ย announced on Tuesday.

Odunze is one of three finalists for the Biletnikoff Award presented by The Tallahasee Quarterback Club Foundation to the most outstanding receiver. Penix Jr. has been tabbed a finalist for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award presented to the most outstanding quarterback, Maxwell Award given to the most outstanding player and the Walter Camp Player of the Year award.

At the conclusion of the regular season, Odunze ranks in the Top 10 nationally in receiving touchdowns (13; sixth), receiving yards (1,326; fourth), receiving yards per game (110.5; fourth) and 15th in total touchdowns (15). Against three currently ranked AP Top 25 teams, he has racked up 20 catches for 298 yards and four touchdowns.

Penix Jr. is in the Top 10 in passing touchdowns (32; fourth), passing yards (3,899; second), passing yards per game (324.9; second), points responsible four (212; seventh), total offense (323.8; fifth) and 11th in passing efficiency (163.3). He has thrown for over 300 yards in eight games and three or more touchdowns in six contests. In addition to his two finalist honors announced today, Penix Jr. is a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

The duo joins Edefuan Ulofoshio (Butkus Award) as finalists for national awards.
