All-Pac-12 Honors For Chidekh And Davis
May 04, 2022 | Men's Tennis
SEATTLE – Second-year Husky Clement Chidekh was named to the Men's Tennis All-Pac-12 First Team for the second time today, while fifth-year senior Jack Davis earned honorable mention. The postseason conference awards were announced today, two days out from the start of the NCAA Championships.
Chidekh and Davis will lead the Dawgs into a first round match against Pepperdine on Friday at 7 a.m. Pacific time across the country in Columbia, South Carolina.
Chidekh (Lyon, France) was named a top-16 seed for the NCAA Singles Championship on Tuesday. Chidekh has gone 28-4 this year and in dual matches this winter and spring, he has gone 17-1 at No. 1 singles. He made the semifinals in the fall at both the ITA All-America Championships and the ITA National Fall Championships, the two individual collegiate majors aside from the NCAA Championships.
He joins a select group of multiple All-Pac-12 First Team Huskies that includes Alex Vlaski (2003, 2004, 2005), Alex Slovic (2004, 2006, 2007), and Kyle McMorrow (2011, 2012, 2013).
Davis is recognized on the All-Pac-12 Team for the first time, earning honorable mention for his impressive season that has seen him earn a career-high 16 dual wins between the No. 2 and No. 3 spot. Davis and Ewen Lumsden have also formed a great No. 1 doubles duo, as the pair have shot up to No. 23 in the national rankings in just the past month. Unfortunately the two were not selected for the NCAA Doubles tourney due to playing one match fewer than the minimum matches required.
With 75 career singles wins and 72 career doubles wins, Davis ranks 10th in UW history in combined wins with 147.
