Washington cornerback Trent McDuffie was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft Thursday evening, the 21st overall selection.
McDuffie, from Westminster, Calif., spent three seasons at UW, starting all but three games. In 2021, he was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection and was named the team's defensive MVP, leading a secondary that allowed just six passing touchdowns in 12 games. He was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2020 and a second-team freshman All-American in 2019.
McDuffie is the 11th Washington defensive back to be selected in the last 10 NFL Drafts, dating back to 2013. He's also the ninth Husky to be chose in the first round over those same 10 drafts.
