April 25, 2022 | Softball
SEATTLE – After a career weekend, UW softball's Gabbie Plain was named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Plain pitched in all three games this past weekend and posted a 3-0 record with a 0.00 ERA, while holding batters to a .106 batting average. Over the 14.1 innings pitched, the senior recorded 18 strikeouts while allowing only five hits. In games one and three, Plain tossed complete-game shutouts on the way to the series sweep of the Ducks.
Over the weekend, Plain recorded her 100th career win in the series opener vs. Oregon. The Harrington Park, Australia native also notched her 1,000th career strikeout in the seventh inning on Sunday. Plain is the third active pitcher in NCAA Division I softball to have 1,000 career strikeouts, and the second in program history to achieve that mark.
This is Plain's third Pac-12 honor this season and the 10th overall in her career. On the season, Plain holds a 14-4 record with a 2.04 ERA in 19 starts and 25 appearances. In her last five games, Plain is 5-0 with a 0.99 ERA in 28.1 innings pitched with 30 strikeouts.
The Huskies return to the field to begin a five-game homestand when Washington hosts Seattle U on Tuesday night at Husky Softball Stadium. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. Tickets for Tuesday's game are available for purchase by clicking here.
