
UW Wins Alumni Race, 7th In Champ 8s At Head Of The Charles

BOSTON – The Washington men's rowing team finished seventh in the Men's Championship Eights Sunday at the 58th annual Head of the Charles.
The race wrapped up the weekend at the 58th annual event. On Saturday, former UW oarsman Ezra Carlson won the Men's Championship Singles, and the Huskies won another trophy as a UW crew won the Men's Alumni Eights, besting a total of 46 crews in the field for that race.
Sunday, Washington's varsity eight crew finished the three-mile course on the Charles River with a time of 13:42.921 to finish sixth among the 25 crews that entered that race. The U.S. National Team entry won, with a time of 13:23.638, a new record for the event.
Syracuse was second, and was the top college crew, finishing about 10 seconds back of the USA crew. Washington's crew as fifth among college entries.
The USA crew included three UW alumni: Pieter Quinton '21, Chris Carlson '19 and Ezra Carlson '16.
Next up for the Huskies this fall is the Head of the Lake Regatta, Nov. 6, on Lake Union and Lake Washington in Seattle.
