July 20, 2021 | Football
Former Husky tight end Cam Cleeland and former Doak Walker Award-winning tailback Greg Lewis have been added to the Washington Huskies football radio broadcasts for 2021, Huskies Sports Properties announced today. Cleeland replaces Damon Huard as the color analyst during play-by-play of the Husky football radio broadcasts, while Lewis joins Dave "Softy" Mahler and Dick Baird as the "Husky Honks" providing pregame, halftime and post-game analysis.
Cleeland, who was teammates with Huard on the UW's 1995 Pac-10 co-championship team as well as on the 2002 New England Patriots, will make his debut behind the mic on Saturday, September 4 ,for the season-opening game against Montana.
In 2019, Huard, who also works in the UW athletic department as the director of community and external relations, announced that he would step away from his color commentary duties.
Cleeland joins play-by-play broadcaster Tony Castricone, who begins his fourth year as the Voice of the Huskies. Elise Woodward returns for her 19th year on the sidelines with the Washington Sports Network from Learfield IMG College. Lewis, who has worked as a radio analyst in various roles with the network previously, is now returning as a new member of the "Husky Honks."
Radio coverage begins four hours before kickoff on the network's flagship station: Seattle's SportsRadio 950 KJR with "Husky Gameday" live from The Zone for Husky home games. Statewide coverage on the 15-station Washington Sports Network begins two hours before kickoff. The entire broadcast is available worldwide on the Huskies Gameday mobile app and on GoHuskies.com.
