CORVALLIS, Ore. – A dramatic home run was the deciding factor in the #6 Washington Huskies' 2-1 win over the Oregon State Beavers. It was another battle of strong pitching from both sides, with Sis Bates' first homer since 2018 the difference maker.

This is the eighth straight series win for the Huskies over Oregon State. Washington has not lost a series to Oregon State since 2012. Washington is 31-5 overall and 9-2 in Pac-12 games after this weekend.

It was a close game throughout, with Washington's first lead lasting just one inning before Oregon State tied it up at 1-1. Gabbie Plain stymied the Beavers the rest of the way: only two Beavers would reach base in the game's final five innings, one by error and one via a hit-by-pitch. Plain struck out eight in her six innings of work to close out the win and move to 20-0 on the season, increasing her Husky record for best undefeated start ever by a pitcher.

In addition to the big homer, Bates added a double, going 2-for-4 in the game. Morganne Flores had the other RBI for the Huskies with a triple in the first inning. Bates, Flores, and Lilly Agan were the only Huskies to record hits in the game.

First Inning: Flores' second triple of the season gave the Huskies the lead early on, allowing Klingler to jog in from third for a 1-0 lead just four batters into the game. Second Inning: Plain did well in a tough situation, entering with the bases loaded and no outs and allowing just one run to score, making it 1-1. Fifth Inning: For the first time since March 2, 2018, a span of 154 games, Bates went yard, hitting a solo shot to centerfield to put the Huskies back in the lead.

Bates (2x4, 2B, HR) reached the 50-hit mark for the fourth time in her career. Bates is the fourth player in the country to reach 50 hits this year. Bates also recorded the 50^th double of her career, the ninth Husky to reach that mark. Plain (6.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 8 K) became the seventh Husky ever and third under Heather Tarr to win 20+ games in three different seasons. In her last eight games, Klingler (0x3, R, BB) has eight walks. Flores (1x3, 3B, RBI) has hit .400 with eight extra-base hits and 13 RBI in her last ten games. Flores leads the Pac-12 in RBI during conference games with 14. Agan (1x3) hit .571 this weekend, with a .667 on-base percentage. Washington drew 11 walks in four games this weekend.

Washington will next face the Oregon Ducks for a four-game series, beginning Friday, April 16. That Friday game will be streamed free via the Washington live stream. The other three games of the series will air on the Pac-12 Network.
