HONOLULU – The #8 Washington Huskies were firing on all cylinders Thursday, beating the Hawai'i Warriors 8-0. The Huskies had 15 hits in five innings, allowing just one baserunner against all day. Four Huskies had multi-hit days and five had extra-base hits.

Gabbie Plain retired the first 14 batters she faced in the game, striking out Hawai'i's first seven batters in a row. She allowed just two balls to reach the outfield all night long, with Hawai'i not managing a baserunner until two outs in the fifth inning. Just five balls were put in play all night against Plain, who struck out 11 batters. Plain would end up just one out away from the third perfect game of her career.

Baylee Klingler, Sami Reynolds, and Madison Huskey all had three-hit days for the Dawgs, with Huskey's three hits matching a career high. The Huskies loaded the bases twice in the first three innings, then broke through in a big way late, scoring six runs in the final two innings.

Reynolds hit her fifth homer of the year as the junior scored three runs and drove in three. Klingler and Noelle Hee each had RBI walks. Eight of the ten Huskies to record a plate appearance had a hit in the game, with eight of nine starters doing so.

Second Inning: Patience paid off for the Dawgs: with the bases loaded, Klingler drew her tenth walk of the year to make it 1-0. Third Inning: Once again, the Huskies loaded the bases and once again, a walk brought in a run. Hee drew the free pass this time for a 2-0 lead. Fourth Inning: Back-to-back doubles started the frame, making it 3-0. Klingler led things off with a double down the leftfield line, then Sis Bates sent one off the centerfield wall on a bounce for an easy run. That opened the floodgates, as the Huskies scored four times in the inning with six hits in the first seven plate appearances of the inning. Fifth Inning: The leadoff batter reached safely for the third straight inning for the Dawgs to start things. Two batters later, Reynolds took one deep over the right-center wall for a two-run bomb and an 8-0 lead.

		NOTES
Plain (5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 11 K) has struck out the side 15 times this year. She has allowed a hit in just 18 innings. Huskey (3x4, 2B, RBI) had her second career three-hit game, both of which have come this season. In her last five starts, Huskey is hitting .385 with three doubles and three RBI. Bates (1x3, 2 R, 2B, RBI) has hits in ten of her last 11 games In 11 games batting second this year, Bates has driven in ten runs. Hee (1x2, RBI, BB) has drawn a walk in every one of her starts this year and in nine of her last ten stretching back to the 2019 season. Over her last six games, Gibson (2x3, R, RBI, BB) is hitting .636 with seven runs, seven RBI, and nine walks. Reynolds (3x4, 3 R, HR, 3 RBI) matched her single-season career high in homers, doing so in 45 fewer games than in 2019. Reynolds now has six multi-RBI games this season.

Washington will play Hawai'i again tomorrow at 8:00 pm PT, then finish the series on Saturday at 4:00 pm PT.
