
Huskies Put Three In Top-20 In Second Vegas Run

LAS VEGAS, Nev. β Three Huskies ran in the top-20 today at the Battle Born Collegiate Challenge as the Husky women's cross country team returned to Las Vegas for its second race of the modified winter season. The Dawgs still have a couple more pieces to add to the mix before they race next at the Pac-12 Championships at Chambers Bay on March 5.

Running for the second straight time at Craig Ranch Regional Park, the Huskies were led today by freshman Naomi Smith, who placed 14th overall today in 20:12 for the 6k course. Allie Schadler ran her first cross country race of the season to go with her busy indoor track season, and she was 18th in 20:16. Haley Herberg was just two seconds back in 20th-place.

The No. 4 scorer for the Dawgs today was Madison Heisterman, who crossed in 39th-place in 20:47. Camila David-Smith capped the top-five in 41st-place in 20:49.

Next Huskies across were Kelly Kakin in 46th in 20:59, then Andrea Markezich in 63rd in 21:18. Hannah Waskom placed 70th and Kiera Marshall 74th.

Washington finished sixth today in the team standings but behind five teams all ranked in the top-16. Fourth-ranked New Mexico had the win followed by sixth-ranked Stanford. 16th-ranked Northern Arizona and 11th-ranked Boise State were third and fourth. The Huskies were one spot behind fifth-ranked Colorado.
