Eason Drafted By Colts; Harris Chosen By Browns
April 25, 2020 | Football
Two Washington Huskies were taken on the final day of the 2020 NFL Draft Sunday. Quarterback Jacob Eason was selected by the Colts in the fourth round, the 122nd overall selection. He was followed in the fifth round by center Nick Harris, who was taken by the Cleveland Browns with the 160th overall pick.
Eason, from Lake Stevens, Wash., was the Huskies' starting quarterback in 2019. Eason began his career at Georgia, where he started as a freshman in 2016. After an injury cost him most of 2017, he transferred to the UW, where he sat out 2018 due to NCAA transfer rules. He played one season on Montlake before entering the NFL Draft.
Last fall, he started all 13 games for the Huskies, throwing for 3,132 yards, the fourth-highest single-season total in UW history. He was 260-for-405, with eight interceptions and 23 touchdowns, sixth-most in school history. He became the 15th UW quarterback to be selected in a professional (NFL or AFL) draft.
Harris, from Inglewood, Calif., played in 50 games during his four years at Washington, starting 40 of them, beginning his true freshman season in 2016, when he was 17 years old for the majority of the fall. A Sports Illustrated second-team All-America selection as a senior in 2019, Harris was a two-time, first-team All-Pac-12 pick, earning that honor in 2018 and 2019.
