Hoffa Earns Pac-12 Coaches' Choice Award
February 25, 2020 | Gymnastics
SAN FRANCISCO - The Pac-12 Conference announced Kristyn Hoffa as this week's Coaches' Choice Award honoree. This is the first weekly award of Hoffa's career and third of the season for the GymDawgs, who have also had Hannah Vandenkolk and Evanni Roberson earn awards from the Pac-12.
Hoffa earned the event title on floor last week at Arizona State, recording a score of 9.925. It was the fifth straight meet that Hoffa has earned a score of 9.900 or higher on floor. That includes a career-best score of 9.975 earlier this season on the event.
Currently, Hoffa is tied for tenth in the country with an average floor score of 9.910. Only two gymnasts in the Pac-12 have higher floor averages than Hoffa this year. No GymDawg has ever averaged a higher floor score in a single season that Hoffa is averaging right now: only Carly Dockendorf, who averaged a score of 9.906 in 2004, has averaged a score of 9.900 or higher.
Hoffa has earned three titles on floor this season, a new career high for a single season. She has earned multiple individual event titles in each of the last three seasons and has six career floor event titles.
Washington will host #4 Utah in a battle of two teams currently undefeated in Pac-12 competition. That meet will be Sunday, March 1 at 2:00 pm.
