
Natsuho Arakawa Named ITA DI and Pac-12 Player of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO --- After a perfect 4-0 recording including a pair of wins over nationally-ranked foes last week, Washington senior Natusho Arakawa earned a pair of weekly honors, being named the Pac-12 and ITA DI Women's Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Arakawa, who is ranked No. 82 in the latest ITA Collegiate Rankings, is the first Husky to earn the ITA national Player of the Week honor and 12th Washington player to earn Pac-12 Player of the Week recognition.

The senior opened trip with a 6-1, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles and a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles in Washington's 4-1 win at Kansas State. Β She followed that up with a pair of big wins on Sunday at Kansas, beating No. 113 Malkia Ngounoue 6-4, 7-6 after teaming with Vanessa Wong to upset Kansas' No. 28-ranked doubles team 6-2.

Arakawa, who is in her second season at UW after transferring from Arkansas after her sophomore year, is a perfect 11-0 in singles play and 6-0 in doubles during the spring. She holds a 3-1 record against nationally-ranked opponent and is 19-3 in singles and 15-4 in doubles matches on the season..

The Huskies (8-3) return home this week to host Illinois on Sunday, Feb. 23, at Noon at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
