Roberson Named Pac-12 Gymnast Of The Week
February 17, 2020 | Gymnastics
SAN FRANCISCO - After earning the first perfect 10 on beam in program history, Washington's Evanni Roberson has been named the Pac-12's Gymnast of the Week. This is the second weekly award for the GymDawgs of 2020: Hannah Vandenkolk was named the Coaches' Choice Award winner earlier this season.
The perfect 10 was the first on beam in program history and just the 18th ever on any event. Roberson is the ninth different GymDawg ever to earn a perfect 10. No GymDawg had recorded a perfect 10 on any event since 2005, when Carly Dockendorf did so on floor.
This is the first Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week award for Washington since Allison Northey earned the award in 2016. Roberson is the eighth different GymDawg ever to earn a Pac-12 weekly award.
Roberson set new career highs on beam with her perfect 10 and on all-around with a 39.650. She earned at least a 9.850 on every event, the first time she has ever reach that mark on all four events in her career. It was the seventh time Roberson has recorded at least a 9.800 on all four events in a single meet.
Roberson earned four event titles this weekend against Arizona in addition to her perfect 10 on beam. That gave Roberson 11 event titles through the first six meets of the season: entering 2020, Roberson had earned 16 career event titles. The 11 titles are a new career high after Roberson earned ten in 2019.
Now averaging a 39.362, Roberson is ranked 15th in the country on the all-around. She is one of six gymnasts in the country to earn a perfect 10 on beam this season.
Washington hits the road this week for a meet at Arizona State. That meet is set for Sunday, February 23 at 1:00 pm.
