Huskies Fall For First Time in 2020
February 13, 2020 | Softball
CLEARWATER, Fla. – The #1 Washington Huskies took their first loss of the season, falling 8-0 to the #9 Alabama Crimson Tide. It was Washington's first non-conference loss since March 3, 2019 and just the sixth non-conference loss in the last three seasons. Two of those six non-conference losses came in Women's College World Series play.
Washington is now 6-1 on the year. This was the first time Washington had lost by run rule in a non-conference game since the 2015 Regionals.
Gabbie Plain, Pat Moore, and Brooke Nelson all saw action in the circle. Plain struck out three before the bullpen took over.
The Huskies had dangerous opportunity in the fourth inning, loading the bases all with two outs. Sami Reynolds and Noelle Hee managed walks, while Baylee Klingler bounced a single straight up the middle. Washington couldn't capitalize to get on the scoreboard, however.
Washington plays a doubleheader tomorrow, facing #5 Florida State at 10:00 am PT, then Liberty at 4:00 pm PT. The Florida State game will be on ESPNU, while the Liberty game airs on ESPN3.
