In continuation of its comprehensive Huskies All In fundraising initiative – a broad-based philanthropic campaign designed to mitigate the impending and dramatic effects of COVID-19 on budget stability – Washington Athletics is today launching its One Team phase of the campaign.
Washington Athletics exists to provide holistic development opportunities for each of its 650 student-athletes, and One Team focuses on just that.
Rather than individual team fundraising this year for its program, the department's head coaches will unite as One Team to ask donors to support every team and every student-athlete. A joint message from the head coaches states: "COVID has changed everything. But we refuse to let it win. The strength of the Dawg is the Pack, which is why we've come together as one team to ask for your support. We need our Pack now more than ever."
The department has implemented several cost-saving measures, including salary reductions, department-wide furloughs and significant operating cuts. It will continue to implement cost-saving measures in an effort to mitigate financial deficits.
Gifts made to Huskies All In will go to directly support over $16 million in scholarships for 650 student-athletes and will support the continued sponsorship of all 22 of Washington's teams.
