Huskies Add Hunter Clark as Volunteer Assistant
September 23, 2019 | Women's Tennis
SEATTLE --- Washington women's tennis head coach Robin Stephenson announced the addition of Hunter Clark to the 2019-20 coaching staff as the volunteer assistant coach on Monday.
"We are excited to have Hunter on board this year," said Stephenson. "He connected with us immediately and brings exactly what we were looking to add to our coaching staff. We heard amazing things about Hunter from everyone we spoke to and we are lucky to have him on board. He will play a big role in helping us continue our success on and off the court."
Clark wrapped up his college career in May, graduating from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) with a degree in communications. Clark walked on with the Roos as a sophomore after attending Kansas State University his freshman year. He played three seasons at UMKC and helped the Roos win the 2017 WAC Tournament title and the 2018 WAC Regular Season title. Clark spent most of his time playing No. 4-6 singles and No. 2 doubles.
"I'm really excited to be joining this UW tennis family," said Clark. "Robin and Georgia have done an amazing job on making this team become a national contender and I'm honored to be a part of it."
In addition to playing at UMKC, Clark, a native of Kansas City, KS, has been teaching tennis at country clubs around Kansas City for the past four years.
Washington finished the 2018-19 season with its best winning percentage in program history after posting a 21-5 record, earning Stephenson Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors. The Huskies reached the NCAA Round of 16 for the first time since 2009 after hosting the first two rounds of the tournament for the first time in 15 years.
