Get To Know The Huskies: Andrew Morrison
August 21, 2019 | Men's Soccer
Andrew Morrison is in his third season with the Huskies, coming all the way to Seattle from Texas. (It's true!)
Let's get to know Andrew:
1. Why did you choose Washington?
The coaches, older players, and great city made my visit very special. I was excited to join such a cool environment.
2. When did you start playing soccer?
When I was 4 years old.
3. What is your earliest or favorite soccer memory?
Watching the world cup final between Germany and Argentina. I was with my two best friends who are German, so watching them celebrate winning was lots of fun.
4. Who are your four favorite soccer players?
Manuel Neuer, Oliver Kahn, Marco Reus, and Matts Hummels.
5. What is your favorite professional soccer team? How did you become a supporter?
Borussia Dortmund. I went to one of their games in Dortmund with my German friends. Chanting with all 80,000 fans and watching the yellow wall bouncing in unison was incredible.
6. What sport would you play if you didn't play soccer?
Golf. My dad was a golfer and I grew up playing with buddies. It's my favorite thing to do in my downtime when I'm not playing soccer.
7. What is the best advice you have ever received?
"Most people miss opportunities that come their way because they are disguised as hard work"
8. What is your favorite place to go around Seattle?
I enjoy doing hikes and fishing in the I-90 corridor.
9. What is one random fact that people wouldn't know about you?
I am from Texas. Pretty sure only a few people know that. Actually, I don't think anyone knows that…
10. What song would you sing at Karaoke night?
"San Antonio Girl" – Lyle Lovett
11. What is your pet peeve?
Can't say I have one.
12. What is your favorite movie?
I'm more of a TV show guy, so I'd say "The Peaky Blinders"
13. What is your favorite quote?
"You might give some serious thought to thanking your lucky stars you're in Texas" – Written on a wooden apple pie box I kept from a Czech Bakery near Ganado, TX.
14. What is your favorite show to binge watch?
Rick and Morty
15. If you could choose where UW would go on its next foreign tour, where would it be?
It would be great to go to Iceland, Ireland, or Scotland.
16. Would you rather go 30 days without your phone or never play soccer again?
I'd leave my phone alone for 30 days and go to Port O'Connor, TX, for a month. Doubt I would even notice it was gone.
17. If you could only have three apps on your phone, which would you pick?
The camera, a music app, and Reddit.
18. If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose?
Flight.
19. What are the top three things to still do on your bucket list?
Climb Mount Rainier, visit Asia, and start a restaurant.
20. If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would you choose?
Elon Musk.
