2019 Fall Camp Soundbites: Day 13
August 16, 2019 | Football
SEATTLE – Members of the Washington football team met with the media Friday afternoon following the Huskies' 13th practice of fall camp. Read some of what they had to say.
DEFENSIVE BACK MYLES BRYANT
(On the team's progress as the season opener gets closer) "I feel like every day, we are just getting better and better. From the first day of camp until now, I feel like our team has taken strides to get ready for that first [game] of the season. Each day, we're coming out here and getting better, trying to be better than we were yesterday. I feel like we're on a good path right now."
(On his role as a leader of the defense) "It's a lot of fun, just going out there and helping those guys. Telling them what I see, and then them going back on the field and trying to execute what I just told them and going out and actually executing it is pretty fun to see. I like to think of myself as another coach out there on the field, just helping those guys out and just trying to put them in the best position to make plays."
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN BENNING POTOA'E
(On his progress during fall camp) "It's been going well. Definitely a learning experience, learning more and more. [I'm playing] a new position this year, so just trying to get everything under my feet as fast as I can and be able to play with a more comfortable mindset… Less thinking, being able to play my game and just really feel things out. Just attack, attack, and go forward without any worries about doing something wrong. Just being able to make plays and cause havoc, really."
(On the defensive players stepping up to bigger roles) "It's been working out very well. You can see people stepping up and filling the big shoes that were left by [players] like [Ben Burr-Kirven] and Tevis Bartlett, all these big names. You can see how hungry these guys are. There's no drop-off. Everybody is stepping up and making a big difference, just hungry for more."
