Bodily Named to Hermann Trophy Watch List
August 01, 2019 | Men's Soccer
SEATTLE --- Washington junior midfielder Blake Bodily has been named to the Hermann Trophy preseason watch list announced by the United Soccer coaches and the Missouri Athletic Club on Thursday.
The Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year.
Bodily has earned All-Pac-12 First Team honors in each of his first two seasons including being named the Pac-12 Freshman of the year in 2017. He appeared in 17 matches in 2018 while battling injuries, scoring two goals and adding four assists. In 2017, he saw time in all 20 match, scoring three goals and leading the team in assists with eight.
"Blake has had two incredible seasons here at UW and has become one of the most feared attacking players in college soccer. It is great that he has been name to the watchlist," said Washington Head Coach Jamie Clark. "While being on the pre-season list is big for him, I know his goal will be to make sure his name is the last one left on this list, and I know he has the ability to do it."
Bodily is one of just two Huskies to earn a spot on the Hermann Trophy Preseason watch list, joining former Husky and current Sounder and US Men's National Team member Cristian Roldan.
The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists are compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Men's and Women's NCAA Division I All-America Committees. Fifteen semifinalists will be named for both the men's and women's MAC Hermann Trophy near the end of the college season based on voting by NCAA Division I coaches and from those candidates, three finalists will ultimately be placed on the ballot for the coveted award.
