
Batt-Doyle Places Sixth At World University Games

NAPLES, Italy - Recent Husky grad Izzi Batt-Doyle ran her first race today since she took third at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, as she suited up for Team Australia at the World University Games in Naples. Batt-Doyle placed sixth in the 10,000-meters.
This was the second World University Games appearance for Batt-Doyle, the native of Adelaide, Australia. She was seventh two years ago and improved to sixth this time around, running a time of 34:21.45 in the hot and humid conditions. China's Deshun Zhang won the race in 34:03.31.
Batt-Doyle wrapped her Husky career last month at NCAAs in Austin, Texas with a bronze medal in the 10k, which followed her Pac-12 Championship win at the distance. She was a three-time All-American and set the school records in the 10,000-meters and indoor 5,000-meters.
