Harris, Bryant & Otton Named To Watch Lists
July 19, 2019 | Football
Three Husky football players earned a spot on a preseason watch list today as Nick Harris was named to the Rimington Award list and both Hunter Bryant and Cade Otton were selected by the Mackey Award.
The Rimington Trophy, named for Nebraska All-American Dave Rimington, is presented annually to the most outstanding center in college football. Since its inception, the seventeen-year old award has raised over $4.2 million for the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.
The John Mackey Award is presented to the nation's top tight end and was won by Husky Austin Seferian Jenkins in 2013. Its namesake is a Pro Football Hall of Famer and was the first president of the NFLPA.
Harris, a senior from Inglewood, Calif., was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection last season, when he started 13 of 14 games for the conference champions. He is also a two-time honorable mention Academic All-Pac-12 selection and earned honorable mention All-Pac-12 in 2017.
Bryant, a junior from Issaquah, Wash., played in the last five games of last season after missing the first nine due to injury. In that limited time, he caught 11 passes for 238 yards and a TD and made all of the national highlight reels with a terrific, one-handed catch in the Rose Bowl.
Otton is a sophomore from Tumwater, Wash., who played in all 14 games, starting 10, as a redshirt freshman in 2018. He caught 13 passes for 174 yards and three touchdowns last year, earning honorable mention Academic All-Pac-12 and the UW's Travis Spring Outstanding Freshman Award.
