
Thirty-Four Huskies Earn Academic All-Pac-12

A total of 34 members of the Washington rowing teams – 17 men and 17 women – were named to the 2019 Academic All-Pac-12 Rowing teams, announced today by the conference office.
Four men and three women were named to the first team. The three first-team honorees for the women were Rachel McGlothlen (Jr.; Spokane, Wash.; 3.90; psychology), Calina Schanze (Sr., Behlendorf, Germany; 3.49; business administration (finance) and Ava Trogus (So.; Oak Park, Ill.; 3.95; computer science).
Seven of the nine members of Washington's varsity eight that led a sweep at the 2019 NCAA Rowing Championships last weekend were honored while an additional four from the second varsity eight and two from the varsity four also made the team (freshmen are not eligible for Academic All-Pac-12).
For the men, the four first-team selections were Elliott de Bruin (Jr.; San Francisco, Calif.; 3.64; computer science), Chase Deitner (So.; Perth, Australia; 3.87; electrical engineering), Ian Engstrom (So.; Lincoln, Mass.; 3.57; biochemistry) and Philipp Nonnast (Sr.; Frankfurt, Germany; 3.48; international studies).
Six of the nine members of the varsity eight crew that took second place at the IRA national championships on Sunday were named to the Academic All-Pac-12 teams, while five more from the second varsity eight were also selected.
