
Twelve Huskies On Pac-12 All-Academic Team

SAN FRANCISCO β The Huskies placed 12 student-athletes on the Pac-12 All-Academic team on Thursday. Three Huskies were named to the first team, two more earned second-team recognition and an additional seven Dawgs received honorable mention.

The five total first- and second-team members for the Huskies were two more than any other school. Washington State and Stanford each had three.

Junior pitcher Leo Nierenberg repeated as a first team member, senior first baseman Joe Wainhouse bumped up from the second team in 2018 to the first team, and senior Mason Cerrillo β who is a nominee for the Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year β earned first-team honors.

Nierenberg is a Visual Arts major from Oakland, Calif., who maintains a 3.59 grade point average. Wainhouse is taking post-graduate classes and maintains a 3.64 GPA. He graduated last June with a degree in Sociology. Cerrillo, who plans on becoming a firefighter, is a Public and Environmental Health major with a 3.69 cumulative GPA.

Junior infielder Ben Baird and sophomore infielder Noah Hsue were named to the second team, each earning their first career All-Pac-12 Academic recognitions. Hsue was recently admitted to the Foster School of Business and maintains a 3.73 GPA. Baird is a Communications major and boasts a 3.59 GPA.

The seven Huskies to be named to the honorable mention team were: sophomore pitcher Stevie Emanuels, sophomore pitcher Jack Enger, junior pitcher Jordan Jones, sophomore pitcher Dylan Lamb, junior pitcher Chris Micheles, junior infielder Nick Roberts and sophomore infielder Jonathan Schiffer.Β Jones also earned honorable mention recognition as a sophomore in 2018.
