PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico – The #2 Washington Huskies had their bats come alive against #19 Baylor, earning an 8-2 win after blasting 14 hits against the Bears. Sami Reynolds had four singles for Washington, while Morganne Flores went 3-for-5 with the first home run of the year for the Huskies. In all, five different Huskies had multiple hits.

Pat Moore excelled in her first start as a Husky, allowing just one batter over the minimum before being pulled in the fifth. She would end the day allowing four baserunners in her four innings of work, earning her second win. Taran Alvelo would close out the game from there with no runs allowed in three innings for her first save of the year.

Washington faced some pressure in the fifth, with some unlucky bounces and bloops going against the Huskies to load the bases with no outs. Baylor would get two runs in the inning before Alvelo and the Washington defense ended the threat still ahead, 3-2.

The Huskies responded immediately with a pressure inning of their own, adding three insurance runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

		SCORING
Second Inning: Washington put the pressure on the defense, scoring after two Baylor errors. Kaupe reached via error, then Espinoza's single to center was bobbled as Kaupe came around to score the game's first run. Fourth Inning: Four singles from the Huskies created two more runs, stretching the lead to 3-0. Bates and Reynolds each picked up RBI with their base knocks. Fifth Inning: Baylor's first four batters all reached base, resulting in two runs for the Bears. Sixth Inning: The Huskies responded to Baylor's scoring frame with three straight hitters reaching in the sixth. Atlee's sacrifice fly would bring one run in for Washington, making it 4-2. Espinoza would single straight up the middle to add two more runs. Seventh Inning: Flores launched Washington's first home run of the season to leftfield and well over the fence and spectators after Bates' leadoff bunt single.

		NOTES
Reynolds (4x5, R, RBI) became the first Husky freshman with a four-hit game since Kylee Lahners on March 19, 2012 against CSU Bakersfield. Reynolds' seven hits are the most by a freshman through their first five games since Taylor Van Zee's eight in 2015. This was Moore's (4.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER) first start as a Husky. The last Husky freshman with more RBI than Espinoza's (3x4, 3 RBI) three was Noelle Hee, who had six on February 10, 2018 against Miami (OH). Alvelo (3.0 IP, 4 K) had first-pitch strikes to 12 of 15 batters Washington is now 8-for-8 in stolen bases after stealing three more tonight.

Washington will remain in Mexico for four more games next weekend, beginning with games against Mississippi State and Arkansas on Thursday, February 14.
