November 05, 2019 | Women's Golf
KAILUA KONA, Hawaii – The University of Washington women's golf team closed out day two of the Pac-12 Preview competition tied for seventh, moving up two spots from their finish the previous day.
The Huskies shot a 6-over 298 in the second round of the tournament and were led Rino Sasaki. The junior shot a 3-under 70 for the second day in a row, giving her sole possession of first place in the individual rankings.
"I'm so proud of Rino this week, she's been very patient and you can see that it is paying off for her," said head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "We are still struggling to finish our rounds on a strong note, so that's something we need to work on."
Winnie Ng and Alice Duan are tied for 34th, with Ng moving up 15 spots during the second round after posting a 1-over 74. The freshman was able to birdie twice on the back nine to finish off her strong second day.
Karen Miyamoto finished the second round tied for 46th after posting a 3-over 76 and Martha Lewis is in 52nd after shooting a 5-over 78.
"We started fairly solid today but couldn't sustain it so we just have to regroup," said Mulflur. "We need to get out there tomorrow and do what we can to finish strong."
The final round of the Pac-12 Preview begins at 10:30 a.m. PT on Wednesday morning. Live scoring can be found at golfstat.com.
