Men Take Top Ten Spots At Chambers Bay

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The third-ranked Husky men's cross country squad rolled in a local tune-up today at Chambers Bay, with Huskies taking up the first ten spots at the John Payne/Curtis Invitational. Senior Mick Stanovsek got the victory as the Dawgs had a split squad lineup for the second straight race.
The Huskies had five runners in uniform in the top-10 to complete a perfect 15 points, plus five more unattached Dawgs. Seattle U. took second today followed by SPU and Central Washington.
Stanovsek covered the 8,000-meter course in 24:31 to get his first cross country victory. Junior All-American Tibebu Proctor competed unattached and he took second in 24:34, with sophomore Alex Slenning third in 24:49. Junior Gavin Parpart was fourth in 24:55, unattached.
A pair of true freshmen were fifth and sixth, competing unattached. Samuel Tanner and Joe Waskom each finished in 24:59 in their first college races. Seventh-place went to Nick Laccinole in 25:01, Isaaac Green was eighth in 25:10, Isaac Mohn was ninth in 25:16, and freshman Luke Houser was 10th in 25:21, competing unattached.
The Huskies will now be off to Terre Haute, Ind. for the Under Armour Pre-National Invitational on Oct. 19 at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course.
