Week 9 Soundbites: Offense Media Availability
October 30, 2019 | Football
SEATTLE – Members of the Washington football offense met with the media Wednesday morning following the Huskies' latest practice. Read some of what they had to say:
OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR BUSH HAMDAN
(On how much film he watched during the off week) "It's been a lot. Sometimes now with technology, it can almost work in the opposite direction. You have so much access to film, and in a bye week, it's almost like you have to hone in on what you are going to do and choose some stuff and go with it."
(On whether Utah is the best defense he's seen so far this season) "Yes… They are a really, really talented group and as well-coached a defense as there is in this conference. The front seven does an outstanding job and they have physical players all over the place, NFL draft picks all over the place. It will be an awesome challenge."
QUARTERBACK JACOB EASON
(On what he's seen from Utah's secondary) "They're all fast. They have some solid corners, and their safeties and nickel are really fast. There will be some one-on-one match-ups that we have to win, and I'm going to have to put the ball in some tighter windows. It will be a great match-up, and I think it will be a great opportunity to make some plays."
(On the mentality of the team so far this week) "We're always going to practice hard. Coach Petersen talked to us about us and nobody else, and we go in there every day ready to work hard with a clean slate. That loss to Oregon before the bye week stung, but you can't dwell on that… We're preparing for Utah, and our team brings the lunch pail every day and gets ready to work. That's what is great about these guys. It doesn't matter what our record is or what the scoreboard says, we're going to work hard."
WIDE RECEIVER JORDAN CHIN
(On whether he thought this season would be his opportunity to play) "Yeah, I felt like it was a good time, but at the end of the day, I just want a team win. It's not all about me. It's about the players I'm playing for around me and trying to make my quarterback look good and try to make my coaches look good."
RUNNING BACK SALVON AHMED
(On whether Utah's defense is the toughest one he's seen so far this season) "They will definitely be one of the tougher defenses we've gone against. Just seeing them on film, they are a physical team, but we're also a very physical team. I know they do well against the run, and that's one of our strengths offensively. It will be great to see two teams go at it."
