Get To Know The Huskies: Noah Whitman
October 23, 2019 | Men's Soccer
Noah Whitman is in his third season on Montlake, though he is unfortunately out this season due to an Achilles injury. Whitman made waves for the Huskies last year, seeing action up top through five matches last year before the injury. Washington was 5-0 in those matches.
Let's get to know Noah!
1. Why did you choose Washington?
When I came on my official visit, I had no idea what to expect. After that experience, however, I knew that Washington was a place that I wanted to be at!
2. When did you start playing soccer?
I started playing soccer when I was 6 years old.
3. What is your earliest or favorite soccer memory?
My earliest memory was when I was 6. My team and I traveled to Las Vegas to play in our first premier game.
4. Who are your four favorite soccer players?
Ronaldinho, Messi, Thierry Henry, and Douglas Costa
5. What is your favorite professional soccer team? How did you become a supporter?
Barcelona is my favorite team. This is because I'm a Ronaldinho fan. But, once Messi began playing I became hooked.
6. What sport would you play if you didn't play soccer?
If I didn't play soccer I would either play basketball, run track, or play lacrosse.
7. What is the best advice you have ever received?
The best advice I've ever received came from my father. He told me, "When you get to college I want you to do one thing for me. Be you. If you don't become yourself other people will tell you how. Then you'll wake up 20 years later wondering why you didn't live your life!"
8. What is your favorite place to go around Seattle?
Uville is nice to go to… they have good places to eat.
9. What is one random fact that people wouldn't know about you?
One random fact that people probably don't know about me is that I am an uncle to my brother's twin babies.
10. What song would you sing at Karaoke night?
If someone handed me a mic and asked me to sing I'd probably break out in some "who's loving you" by Jackson 5.
11. What is your pet peeve?
My biggest pet peeve is people who drag their feet when they walk.
12. What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is inception. Plays with the idea of space and time and that is something that I find fascinating.
13. What is your favorite quote?
My favorite quote is "Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak" -Sun Tzu
14. What is your favorite show to binge watch?
Kind of cliché, but definitely Game of Thrones.
15. If you could choose where uw would go on its next foreign tour, where would it be?
This one I have no specific preference. I have only traveled out of country a couple of times. So, to be able to experience different cultures is first on my list, not where we go.
16. Would you rather go 30 days without your phone or never play soccer again?
If my ability to play soccer was dependent on whether or not I used my phone for 30 days…. Shoot that phone would be so far out of sight it's not even funny.
17. If you could only have three apps on your phone, which would you pick?
The three apps that I would have on my phone would be 1) Calling/texting, 2) Camera/photos, 3) Safari.
18. If you could have any one superpower, which one would you choose?
I would want to have the ability to learn things really, really fast.
19. What are the top three things to still do on your bucket list?
Top three things to do on my bucket list are as follows; go on a family vacation, go sky skydiving, spend every holiday with people I love.
20. If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would you choose?
I would trade places with Lebron James. His ability to brand himself, never make a mistake in terms of getting in trouble, while exceeding people's physical expectations is something that I admire.
